Reliance Transport - Project Switch

Reliance Transport, a leading logistics provider in New Zealand, is making strides toward carbon neutrality by 2030 through its innovative Project Switch. Central to this initiative is the adoption of SANY electric equipment, supplied by Portstar Machinery, a multi national Heavy Equipment supplier, has been instrumental in reducing both emissions and operational costs. The SANY all-electric reach stacker, introduced as part of the project, is a critical component in Reliance Transport’s sustainable transition. Unlike traditional diesel models that consume nearly 20 litres of fuel per hour, the electric reach stacker operates with minimal environmental impact, achieving an impressive 91% reduction in carbon emissions and significantly lowering energy expenses.

Guided by General Manager Mark Durrah, the switch to SANY electric technology is also reducing maintenance costs by as much as 30%, with energy costs falling by 75% compared to diesel. This shift to electrification is not only aligning with New Zealand’s climate goals but also positioning Reliance Transport as a model of eco-conscious innovation in logistics. Project Switch exemplifies how the right equipment investments—like those with SANY electric machinery—can help companies achieve both sustainability and cost efficiency.
